So I decided to put together this website. I didn't want to just call you and potentially flub up what I wanted to say. And I didn't want to text you, and have it be a fifteen, thirty second interaction that would really just fade into obscurity — like the rest of the texts and events you have going on in a given day.
And because you showed me how to do this thing I'm doing, to create this. And because it's a great medium for me to show you some of the most meaningful pictures and videos — if I can figure that out.
Whether you believe me or not, these ten or so photos are probably ten of my hundred favorite photos. They're so important to me.
Because I've really realized, in this dark period of my life, that time spent with all those we care about is probably the single most important thing we can have in life.
If I were to only pick one thing — I think it's obvious what it would be.
So — here's to you, my friend. Thank you so much for all the great times we've had together.
I just want to leave you with a few words about who I feel you are, and who you are to me.
Because at the end of the day, we know everything we do, to an extent. We just don't always know the perception. And perception does matter.
I want you to know, in your heart of hearts, that you are perceived in so many amazing ways.
Johnny, you are one of the funniest people I have ever, ever met. You are by far the wittiest person I have ever met.
Your timing — to joke in the moment, in any sort of social interaction — is probably twice as fast as my next closest friend. And I don't even know who that would be, because you're so far ahead of the rest.
You are someone who always seeks to understand and relate to people — despite their background, or their maybe antagonistic, or just foreign ways.
And I think it will serve you endlessly in life, as you seek to connect with more people, make more friends, have more good times.
You are one of the most driven people I know. One of the most creative people I know. One of the most inspiring people I know — because deep down, you are an optimist on an incredible level.
And that trifecta is just this whirlwind, wrapped up alongside your incredible capacity for creativity.
And I think you're going to struggle to find a medium of work that allows you to shine, because there's almost no work that really takes advantage of those qualities in this day and age.
I know you're on the search for what that'll be. You've gotten quite far — I was very impressed with the stuff you showed me in Jersey when you were here.
And I know that you will find it. Or if not the perfect thing in life, then the next best thing — that's all we can ask for sometimes.
And you will be incredibly happy. Incredibly impressive. And incredibly fun to be around.
